Ronald Bucinell

Ronald Bucinell is an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Union College. He served as Chairman of the Department of Mechanical Engineering from September 2005 until June 2008. Since joining Union College in September of 1993, he has taught courses and laboratories in engineering mechanics, design, and entrepreneurship. Dr. Bucinell is currently director of the International Virtual Design Studio project, run in collaboration with the Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey; Altim University in Ankara, Turkey; and ESIGELEC in Rouen, France. He also founded the Union College chapter of Engineers Without Borders (EWB). He regularly works with small businesses to develop their materials technology and is the founder of the Upstate New York Composite Manufacturers Forum (UNYCMF). Dr. Bucinell also supported the formation of the Watervliet Innovation Center (WIC), a technology-based business accelerator, and currently serves on their Board of Advisors. Prior to joining Union College, he worked in the aerospace industry for ten years.
