Niku, Saeed

Saeed Niku is a professor and the coordinator of the graduate program of the Mechanical Engineering Department at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. He has taught courses in the creative design of products and systems, in robotics, and in mechanics, since 1983. His teaching focus is on creative design and robotics, and his research is in the same areas, including new robot systems, vision systems, and design for disabled individuals. He has involved his students in the design and development of scores of devices for disabled users. Saeed has published a robotics textbook circa 2001. His second book, tentatively titled Design of Products and Systems: A Creative Structured Approach is under publication. Saeed has participated in NCIIA activities and E-Teams since 1996 and has integrated entrepreneurship into his design course.
Nixdorff, Janet L.

Janet Nixdorff is an associate director in The Center for Entrepreneurial Excellence and a doctoral candidate at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Her primary research interests are creativity and entrepreneurship. She is currently preparing her dissertation on opportunity recognition by entrepreneurs.

Norris, Dave N.

Dave N. Norris, Jr., is the director of the Louisiana Tech Enterprise Center and is a board member for the Center for Entrepreneurship and Information Technology. He received his PhD in economics from the University of Texas at Austin in 1998. His areas of research focus include public finance, business and economic development, economics of education, and workforce development policy. Norris has worked as an economic research analyst at the Ray Marshall Center for the Study of Human Resources at UT-Austin and the US Department of Health and Human Services in Washington, D.C. He was previously on the economics faculty at Northeastern University in Boston. He serves on the board of the Louisiana Business Incubator Association and the Louisiana Occupational Forecasting Conference.
